This pompano
was shot on the afternoon after returning from the shoal.
Conditions were quite messy at Sheffield but it was worth
a look. As they say " The harder you dive, the luckier you
get!!"
I was cruising
along and saw a good shoal of stumpies on the sand. Dove down
to their level and had a beast pompano fly around me. He turned
sharply back at me, and was joined by a whole shoal of other
fish. They were literally flying and I managed to get my gun
in line with the second last fish and blatted it a really
good shot.
The fish went
beserk and in trying to reef itself almost pulled me over
a ledge. I gave it no play and literally strong-armed it back
out of a crack. As it got near I swam down and grabbed it
by the gills. Very stoked, a 10.8kg pompano
is a dream fish to shoot.
