1. Name of the Club 1.1. The name of the Club shall be the Salt Rock Spearfishing Club, hereinafter referred to as the "Club". 2. Objectives - The Club shall have the following objectives: 2.1. Unite local spearfishermen 2.2. Through the unifying body, create a positive identification for North Coast spearfishermen. 2.3. Create a forum in which spearfishermen may share knowledge and experiences. 2.4. Create a forum in which the more experienced spearfishermen may impart their knowledge and experience with lesser-experienced spearfishermen, and thereby, accelerating their development. 2.5. The Club to be an eco-sensitive organization and aims to promote conservation by adhering to the relevant by-laws and discouraging any action/s by it's member or non-members, deemed harmful to local fishing and local reefs. 2.6. To co-operate with similar organisations, angling bodies, and scientific or research organisations. 2.7. The Club is at all times to create a family environment that encourages the involvement of wives/partners and children. 3. Affiliation 3.1. The Club shall be affiliated to SAUFF. 4. Membership 4.1. Membership shall be open to any spearfisherman that identifies with our vision. 4.2. Every member of the club shall be deemed to have accepted the provisions of the Club. 4.3. Only fully paid up members may vote at a general meeting, claim fish records and represent the Club at Competitions. 5. Rules and regulations 5.1. The committee may from time to time lay down rules and regulations where necessary for the efficient functioning of the Club. 5.2.1. All members shall abide by such rules and regulations. 5.2.2. All members must adhere to the rules and laws laid down by the relevant bodies such as 'KZN Wildlife' for whatever area they are diving in. 5.2.3. Non-compliance shall be subject to disciplinary action and possible expulsion. 6. Amendments 6.1. The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote at a general meeting. Notice of a motion to amend the Constitution shall be included in the notice of meeting sent to the members. 7. General Meetings 7.1. A general meeting at year end. 7.2. A general meeting may be held at any other time at the discretion of the committee, or at the request of 50% of the membership. 7.3. Notice of a general meeting shall be posted at least 10 days prior to the meeting. 7.4. The quorum for a general meeting shall be 10 members eligible to vote. If a quorum is not present 30 minutes after the scheduled start of the meeting, the meeting shall be adjourned until a date at least seven days after the original meeting, and notice of such adjournment shall be prominently posted in the club premises as soon as possible. The quorum for the following meeting shall be the number of members present. 7.5. The Chairperson shall preside over the meeting, and shall have the casting vote in addition to his/her ordinary deliberative vote. If the chairperson is absent the Vice Chairperson shall preside. If the vice-Chairperson is also absent the secretary will preside. If the secretary is also absent a committee member shall be elected by the members to preside over the meeting.
